How We Got Started
How it all began
FoxTales Wildlife Rehab is in-home private rehab facility established in 2023, we are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. We focus on the rehabilitation of native Virginia wildlife mammals. Taking in over 200 animals of all species which include foxes, skunks, raccoon, opossums, squirrels, cottontail rabbits and more. Facility is located on 5 acres of wooded area with ponds nearby, many animals are released on property but are open to allowing certain animals released to areas nearby if they meet our criteria and would benefit the animals.
The founder and CEO of FoxTales Wildlife Rehab, Elizabeth Negron. Elizabeth has been actively involved in rehabbing wildlife for 19 years whether that is volunteering at a rehab facility at the age of 13, being a care provider under another private rehabber or opening her own private rehab facility. Elizabeth is licensed by the state through the DWR to rehabilitate wildlife mammals including RVS (rabies vector species.) Rabies Vector Species are mammals that have a higher chance of the possibility to contract rabies, it does not mean they have rabies. These species include raccoon, foxes and skunks. Not all wildlife rehabbers are legally allowed to take in RVS animals. Although we take majority of mammals we do specialize in the rabies vector species so this means we will sometimes try to have the finders of animals find alternative rehabbers for animals who are not rabies vector species such as squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits. This is so we can keep space open for animals that are less likely to be allowed to be taken in by other rehabbers.
